The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, June 12, as public holiday to mark the nation’s Democracy Day.

In a directive issued today on behalf of the Federal Government by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs Georgina Ehuriah, and signed by Mr Mohammed Manga, Director Press & Public Relations of the ministry, the Federal Government’s decision is sequel to the proclamation and enactment into law of June 12 as the new Democracy Day in Nigeria.

The permanent secretary urged Nigerians to continue to treasure the sacrifice made by heroes of democracy in the country, adding that those who lost their lives in the struggle for the actualisation of Democratic Governance in Nigeria must not be forgotten.

She enjoined all Nigerians to support and cooperate with President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration towards achieving unity, peace and socio-economic development.
