Eid-Fitri: FG declares June 4, 5, as public holidays

In commemoration of the Muslim Eid-Fitri celebration, the Federal Government has declared Tuesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 5, as public holidays.

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs Georgina Ehuriah, and signed by the Director Press & Public Relations of the ministry, Mr Mohammed Manga, the Perm Sec made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government yesterday in Abuja.

Mrs Ehuriah congratulated Muslims on a successful completion of the Ramadan Fast and appealed to all Nigerians to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for the peace, unity and prosperity of the nation.

She urged citizens to shun hate and divisive speeches, but join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari to build a peaceful, strong and united Nigeria.

Ehuriah reiterated the Federal Government’s determination to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

She also disclosed that security agencies under the Ministry have been directed to provide adequate security before, during and after the Eid-Fitri Celebration.

She wished all Nigerians a happy, peaceful and rewarding Eid-Fitri Celebration.
