I trade in cows like the Fulanis because it is profitable – Fmr Abia gov reveals

By David Olalekan.

A former governor of Abia State, and current Chief Whip of the Eight Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu has warned against categorizing the Fulanis as exclusive dealers in cow business, stressing that he also trades in cows because it is profiteering.

The senator who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) revealed that he established RUGA in Abia State during his time as governor between 1999 to 2007, by providing land for Fulani herdsmen in the state capital, Umuahia.

Kalu made the disclosure while addressing the Senate Press Corps in Abuja, today.

“I provided land for herders in Umuahia during my time as governor of Abia State where cattle were brought from the North for sale across the South-East and there were no problems.

“When the executive of Miyetti Allah approached my government, I chose where Shopite is located now for them along the Port Harcourt expressway.

“One day, I took a 32-seater bus and I asked their Executives to follow me to where I showed them and they agreed that it was appropriate for them and that was how I established RUGA”, he said.
