The Kwara State Election Petition Tribunal has sacked the member representing Ilorin-South constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Hassan Elewu.

The Tribunal, in its ruling delivered by Justice Mariya M. Ismaila on Tuesday ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Hon. Elewu and conduct fresh elections within the next three months.

Mr Jimoh Raheem Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had challenged the election of the APC candidate, citing among other reasons, that he (Elewu) was unqualified to contest the election.

Justice Ismaila resolved that the PDP and its candidate failed to prove allegation of forgery and deposition to false affidavit raised against the 1st Respondent.

The tribunal also resolved the contention between Elewu and another APC candidate, Sulaiman Shehu Abdulsalam over who was the authentic candidate of the party in the election.

It held that since all the Respondents had deposed that Hassan Elewu was the candidate of the APC, Sulaiman Abdulsalam’s claim has been refuted.

The tribunal however, annulled the Ilorin-South State Assembly election, ordering the conduct of fresh elections within three months.
