Mass defection befalls Zamfara APC as fmr deputy gov, SSG leads 3804 to PDP

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been dealt a huge blow, as no fewer than 3,804 card carrying members of the party have jumped ship to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The defectors, led by a former Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mutari Anka, were received by Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle, at the Government House in Gusau, today.

Other notable decampees include: Former House of Assembly Speaker, Bature Sambo, a former commissioner, Alhaji Gurbin Bore, the former Secretary to the state Government, Alhaji Mohammed Bawa Gusau, the present Vice Chairman of Zurmi local Government area, Mainasara Abubakar Atiku, seven serving councillors across the state and senior special assistants who served in the administration of ex-governor AbdulAziz Yari.

In his remarks, the former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mutari Anka, explained the reason for the defection.

He said, “We want to contribute our own quarter to the development of the state since one of our own is now piloting the affairs of the state, and our great party is able to form government in the state.”

Governor Matawalle praised the defectors for returning back to their “original home” which he termed a wise decision.
