The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has set up a panel headed by former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, to probe the roles played by PDP lawmakers in the National Assembly elections which held on June 11.
According to reports, other members of the panel are former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu; former Special Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Senator Ben Obi; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara; and a former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Stella Omu.
Recall that the PDP publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan had earlier hinted that the party had constituted a committee to ascertain the roles played by lawmakers during the National Assembly elections.
Following the emergence of Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively, it is presumed that a handful of the PDP’s lawmakers may have jettisoned the party’s directive to vote for Senator Ali Ndume as Senate President and Umar Bago as Speaker of the House of Representatives, hence, the probe.
