Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle has condemned the abduction of the state’s Director of Budget, Hamza Salihu, who was kidnapped along with two other people near Kachia in Kaduna State while on their way to Nasarawa State on an official trip.
Governor Matawalle, who spoke through a statement issued by his Director of Press, Yusuf Idris, described as unfortunate the incessant kidnappings perpetrated by unrepentant elements who use security uniforms as a decoy to abduct unsuspecting citizens.
The statement reads in part: “Zamfara State Governor, Dr Bello Matawallen, has described as terrible and disturbing, Sunday afternoon abduction of the state’s Director of Budget, Alhaji Hamza Salihu, who was abducted along with two other persons near Kachia in Kaduna State while on their way to Akwanga in Nasarawa State on an official trip.
“It is very unfortunate that while efforts are being strengthened to stop armed banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other crimes peacefully without any bloodshed, some bad elements who have chosen to remain unrepentant will still use security uniforms to stop and kidnap unsuspecting law-abiding citizens.”
Matawalle, also condoled with the family of the Deputy Director of Budget, Kabiru Ismail who was killed by the hoodlums at the scene of the abduction.
The governor promised to liaise with the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, and relevant security agencies to fish out the perpetrators and prosecute them accordingly.
